Honey Harbour Park Depave Project

Category:Green Infrastructure
City: Honey Harbour Park, Port Severn
Year: 2022 - Ongoing

In May and June of 2022, Severn Sound Environmental Association partnered with the Township of Georgian Bay to lead a Depave Paradise project at Honey Harbour Park in Georgian Bay, Ontario. They removed 100 square metres of asphalt from an unused skating rink and planted a pollinator garden with 6 trees and 340 shrubs and plants. The project kick-started broader park revitalization efforts and gave local volunteers hands-on educational opportunities, including members of the Baxter Ward Lion’s Club and students from Honey Harbour Public School.
