In 2014, Ecology Ottawa removed over 100 square metres of pavement at Kitchissippi United Church and replaced it with a thriving pollinator garden. The south courtyard now features four distinct spaces: a xeriscaped garden, a butterfly garden, a native herbal garden for classroom use, and a shaded seating area with benches and sitting rocks.
